NEW VIDEO of Puerto Rican Delegate Zoraida Fonalledas Being Taunted with Chants of USA!

30 Aug

There’s an on going debate as to whether chants of USA USA USA were directed toward Puerto Rican GOP Delegate Zoraida Fonalledas.  Many believe, including myself, that these chants were racially motived and totally uncalled for.

There is no doubt, that Ms. Fonalledas was disrespected and subjected to racial bigotry.

In the video, just prior to Ms. Fonalledas being introduced, it appears that calm is restored on the convention floor. No booing or USA chants can be heard. When Republican National Committee Chairman, Reince Preibus introduces her as being from Puerto Rico, the boos begin. When Ms. Fonalledas begins to speak in her Spanish accent, we hear chants of USA USA USA for the first time.

For all you naysayers, believing that these chants were intended for fellow delegates, is totally ridiculous.
Americans hating on each other by screaming USA, is idiotic.

Chants of USA are reserved for two occasions
1. to express patriotism
2. to express ethnic hatred.

In the case of patriotism, the Olympic games would be a an ideal time to chant USA!

In the case of  ethnic hatred, the  implication of the chant is  – THEY ARE NOT AMERICAN CITIZENS.

Ms. Fonalledas, a Puerto Rican, speaking in a thick Spanish accent as a result of English being her 2nd
language, was not received, nor welcomed, as an American Citizen, and some delegates let her know it,
by chanting USA! USA! USA!

Watch the video and feel free to share your thoughts.

Please re-watch the video. Ron Paul delegates were responding angrily to the ruling of Mike Duncan of the Credentials Committee. You can clearly hear jeering at the 0:09 mark and counter-chants of “USA” at the 0:14 mark, well before Fonalledas is introduced. In fact, there’s about a minute and a half of audience shouting at each other before Fonalledas even arrives at the podium.

Mike I also suggest you check out the NBC Latino interview with Mdme. Fonalledas where she explains what was going on on the floor and that it had nothing to do with her. If it was directed at her being hispanic, why were these same people enthusiastically applauding and giving standing ovations to all the speeches by the several other hispanic speakers like Cruz, Valenzuela, Martinez, and Governor Fortuño and his wife, also from Puerto Rico, many of whom have accents and incorporated spanish into their speech? Also note, you can hear and see the Ron Paul delegates chanting “Seat them Now” in the video, while the “USA” chants effectively drown them out.
Sorry to ruin your narrative that republicans hate people of color. I encourage you to keep trying though… while our side busies ourself with real issues like fixing unemployment and elminating poverty.

      As I quoted in the NBC Latino piece;

She’s suffering from the “beaten wife” syndrome my friend. The video clearly shows this women is being disrespected. She is sending the wrong message to young Latinos every where, by denying the chain of events. I guess being accepted by a party that is anti-Latino is HER AMERICAN DREAM.

      I appreciate your comment.

Que mas prueba you people need?!… I am BRazilian… but in this country… WE ARE ALL LATINOS!
THat was the last drop…. I used to be a Republican but I switch because of the true colors of the GOP.

It isn’t the sound but the video that is disturbing. There are several white males who appear to be angry and one must question why they chose this particular moment to express their “patriotism”. Also, try saying “them” (as in the purported “Seat them now” chant) without closing your mouth and you will discover that no one is shouting that phrase on camera.

You noticed that. Scary. Isn’t it?

You can clearly see who is standing (notice the cowboy hats) and what they are saying, “GO HOME”! What boggles the mind is those that want to deny what they are seeing. It’s no news that the GOP does not consider Puerto Ricans US citizens and yet they want my vote?! I would rather vote for Elmer Fudd than these crazy, bigoted, racist monsters!! This was blatant racism at it’s finest. The difference is that they did it in public instead of hiding behind their white hoods like they normally do….

Sure sounded like to me that the guy with the cowboy hat cupping his mouth was saying , “…..go home.”. The room was momentarily quiet until Rank Freepiss said “Puerto Rico”. Unless I’m TOTALLY dense, it seems pretty obvious to me that they were chanting AT her..

        Your spot on Rayb-baby!
        Thank you for your comment

LOL – I like your Elmer Fudd reference. You’re correct, some folks are in denial.
Have you also noticed how quiet mainstream-media has been. Let’s not forget also, CNN’s black camera-woman who was hit with peanuts and told – This is how we feed animals – No one wants to talk about that either. It seems on this particular day at the #RNC2012 there was a touch of racial-prejudice in the air.

      Right on!

It is truly shameful of the lack of respect shown @ the convention for the Puerto Rican delegate. Maybe the saying is correct” stupid is as stupid does.” Ignorance is fear..read history books and you will find out that Puerto Rico is the Common wealth of the United states and we are born CITIZENS.. along with 13 more territories..It is a real shame that there still are people who only see one color and don’t accept anything different than themselves..

Wow, what a lack of respect for one of their own. That had nothing to do with politics and everything to do with racism. Idiots!
